European Archeologic Day -special opening Vialla romana Caselette and Primavalle

Guided tours of the Roman villa of Caselette and the new itinerary of the naturalistic area on the slopes of Monte Musinèin occasion of the European Archeologic day

The Primavalle area, located on the slopes of Monte Musinè, is home to numerous species of rare animals and plants at national and regional level which make it one of the Piedmontese areas with the greatest biodiversity. A real “xerothermic oasis” which also includes the Upper and Lower Lakes of Caselette. The objective of the creation of this naturalistic itinerary of excellence is to enhance the great biodiversity that characterizes this area and to bring the public’s attention to how the naturalistic component has also influenced the development at a historical level. This area also hosts a magnesite quarry, already exploited in the Roman period, which was very important for the town’s economy until the outbreak of the Second World War. The quarry is of particular geological importance thanks to the presence of Opal which, in this place, has particular characteristics from a gemological point of view.

The naturalistic visits will be inserted in synergy with the guided tours of the Roman Villa of Caselette and the Roman Villa of Almese, creating a complete picture of how these places could have appeared in the Roman period.

Visits to the Roman Villa and naturalistic visits in the Primavalle Area will take place on Sunday 18 June from 4.00pm to 6.00 pm: first visit at Villa at 4.30 pm, second visit at 5.30 pm, third visit at 6.30 pm. at Primavalle Area 4.30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
