Ricetto of San Mauro – Almese

The Ricetto is situated in Almese in the hamlet of San Mauro n.4
The first document telling about the Ricetto di San Mauro dated back of 1029. It was the place where the Lord of the castle gathered the harvest of the countryside for the Abbot, where all the country production around the “Castrum” were stored under the priest order. It was also the place to protect and where to take shelter in case of danger and defend the farm produce from the raid of the enemy. With the enlargement of the village of Almese the Ricetto lost its importance with the passing of the time and became an agriculture and fractioned residence. The tower and the Ricetto have been completely restructured at the end of 2006 and now they are transformed in an expositive and cultural place, where some exhibitions and artistical conferences take place
