Easter concert at the Abbey of San Michele

This year the Sacra di San Michele inaugurates the concert season of the year with the usual Easter concert, which will be held on Saturday 23 March at 8.30 pm inside the abbey church. Guests of the evening The Choir and the Camerata Barocca Musicaviva with J.S. BACH – Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in the bandages of death) for soloists, choir and orchestra.
The cantata was composed by Bach in 1707 and the seven versus that compose it correspond to the seven stanzas of Martin Luther’s Easter hymn.

The Musicaviva Choir and Camerata Barocca are two high-level musical ensembles, both operating under the aegis of the Musicaviva Association, with which they actively collaborate in the creation of 17th and 18th century composition projects. The two groups have already created numerous highly successful projects and have distinguished themselves for their ability to offer high-level performances of the works of the great composers of the period. Thanks to their expertise and passion for music, the Musicaviva Choir and Camerata Barocca are already recognized as two excellences of the Piedmont musical panorama.
