Via francigena for all
Saturday 7 September 2024 within the Piedmont Region project “Via Francigena for all”, with the organizational support of Visit Piemonte and through the help of the Pellegrina Bike Marathon-A.S.D. Guide Discovery Valsusa the final event of the “Via Francigena for All”, which consists of an inclusive walk, open to people with disabilities. People with sensory disabilities and minors must be accompanied. We will visit some symbolic places of the Via Francigena in the Susa Valley: starting at the foot of the Sacra di San Michele in Sant’Ambrogio di Torino up to Avigliana, passing through the lake and the historic center.
The event is inclusive. People with sensory disabilities and minors must be accompanied. People with motor disabilities or those who need LIS interpreting must report their specific needs in time to the email info.pellegrinabikemarathon@gmail.com to allow the organization to make appropriate arrangements.
The leader of the project is the Piedmont Region, Regional Directorate for Coordination of European Policies and Funds – Tourism and Sport, with the project partners Local Tourist Promotion and Reception Agency Turin Tourism and the Province and Ecclesiastical Region of Piedmont with the Regional Council for the Ecclesiastical Heritage of the Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta and the support of Visit Piemonte.
TECHNICALS DETAILS:
Length: 9 km
Difference in altitude: 111 m
Duration: approximately 4 hours (excluding breaks)
Difficulty: the route is largely flat, suitable for averagely fit participants.
Equipment: trekking shoes, clothing appropriate for the season with rain jacket, sun hat and protective sun cream, backpack; packed lunch.
It is advisable to bring mosquito repellent lotion with you.
The walk will only be canceled in the event of a weather warning. As regards minor participants, the responsibility is entrusted to their parents and/or guardians, who must be present at the event. Dogs on a leash are allowed.
OUTLINE PROGRAM OF THE EVENT:
9.45am: meeting in Sant’Ambrogio di Torino, Largo Robert Baden Powell (in front of the railway station), punctuality is recommended
10am: start of the walk
12.30 pm: stop for a packed lunch (at the expense of the participants) at the Lago Grande beach in Avigliana
1.30 pm: resumption of the walk
3.30 pm: arrival at the Palio field in Avigliana. Distribution of gadgets and greetings
