Tour dantesco 2024 – the great lakes fo the north

In this summer of 2024 Giorgio Battistella is cycling through Northern Italy and its great lakes, offering an evening of listening to Dante at each stop. He will also arrive in Avigliana on Monday 5 August 2024 at 6pm at the Giardino delle donne, presenting “The meeting with Beatrice” from Canto XXX of Purgatorio. The event obtained the patronage of the Municipality of Avigliana.

Knowledge and appreciation for the Divine Comedy have spanned the centuries until, in recent years, here in Italy, there has been an unexpected rediscovery by the general public also thanks to Roberto Benigni’s shows. In fact, thousands of people, fascinated by his recitation and explanation of Dante’s songs, both on television and in live performances in Florence and in many Italian cities, have rediscovered the taste for the great poetry, profound humanism and high spirituality of this a work that can touch the hearts and minds of even the simplest, as befits works that we rightly call masterpieces of art.

These are precisely moments of listening (and not reading), in which the song is recited from memory, allowing an introduction that facilitates understanding of the text even for the less experienced. Then there is the possibility of an exchange of feedback requested on the text which may come from the public.
