Strong women – story in images

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the exhibition of photographic portraits by Valeria Fioranti entitled “Strong Women” will be inaugurated on Saturday 8 March at 3pm with the patronage of the Municipality of Avigliana and in collaboration with the Valsusa Filmfest. The exhibition can be visited until March 16th on Saturdays and Sundays from 3pm to 7pm at the church of Santa Croce in Avigliana. The portraits of 25 breeders (between Val di Susa and Val Sangone) will be exhibited. The exhibition is inspired by the feminicide that occurred on 29 December 2020 of Agitu Ideo Gudeta, the Ethiopian agricultural entrepreneur who immigrated to Italy, in Trentino, where she founded the company “La capra happy”. The title of the exhibition is inspired by the initiative of Marzia Verona, a writer and breeder from the Valle d’Aosta who in the days following the killing of the breeder launched the hashtag #strongwomen and published a post on her blog which immediately attracted many adhesions from women farmers/breeders from all over Italy. The Valsusa Filmfest also decided to support the initiative by relaunching the hashtag and collecting some images of female breeders from various parts of Italy, also thanks to the collaboration of the “Donne in campo” association from Trentino, Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. At the same time, in memory of Agitu Ideo Gudeta, the breeders of the Susa Valley and Val Sangone portrayed by Valeria Fioranti were involved in the project.
