pissarro, the father of impressionism – appuntamento con l’arte al cinema
The film is a documentary on the painter born on an island in the Antilles in the nineteenth century, namely Camille Pissaro, who was interested in this art from a very young age in Paris. At the age of 43 he had gathered around him a large group of artists, who after the staging of their first exhibition received strong, very negative reviews from critics. Yet, thanks to this event the group of painters acquired the name that later made them famous: Impressionists. For the next forty years, Pissarro was the focal point of this artistic movement, as well as the driving force, so much so that his work influenced many of the other best-known ones, such as Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne.
