Pellegrina bike marathon 2023

The Pellegrina bike marathon returns to the roads of the Susa Valley on 10 September 2023 and renews itself, following its well-established formula which includes five different routes in terms of length, gradient and suitable for the most diverse types of bicycles. The event is proposed as a non-competitive sports cycle-tourism ride – suitable for all types of bikes – and passes through various sections on the Via Francigena in the Susa Valley and on the cycle path currently under construction. It takes place in free excursion on secondary asphalted roads, dirt roads and rural roads to discover the two thousand year old heritage of historical and architectural assets of this extraordinary territory of the Western Alps. It is organized by Asd Guide discovery Valsusa with the sponsorship of the vast area entities and the many Municipalities crossed, of the tourist promotion structures, to relaunch the Susa Valley area as a large bike area and terrain for outdoor experiences, its landscapes, its monumental and architectural assets and is included in the calendar of major sporting events of the Piedmont Region.

THE FORMULA 2023

After Susa and Rivoli it’s up to Avigliana  – “the medieval city with a green heart” – with its historic center and its two lakes and can be easily reached by train on the SFM3 Turin – Bardonecchia line, or by car from Turin on the A32

be the departure and arrival point for all 5 routes.

The event takes place over two days:

Saturday 9 September at the Alveare Verde Park in Avigliana with entertainment and guided excursions to discover the area (Sacra di San Michele, Lago Grande di Avigliana, medieval village…); talks on cycle tourism and bike village with technical sponsors.
Sunday 10 September provides for 5 differentiated departures starting at 7.30.
The 5 routes are ring-shaped and there is no closure of the roads (as it is not competitive) and it is free to travel in compliance with the highway code. There are various refreshment points along the routes.

Long Gravel route 120 km d+ 2150: demanding route, 60% asphalt, 40% unpaved dirt road, maximum gradient 22%; recommended gravel and mtb bikes
Gravel path Medium 75 km d+ 1100: medium difficulty, asphalt 60%, dirt road 40%, maximum gradient 22%; recommended gravel and mtb bikes
Short Gravel route 55 km d+300 easy route, 70% asphalt, 30% dirt, maximum gradient 10%; recommended bikes gravel, mtb, e-bike, vintage
Route Strada Valsusa 110 km d+ 1150 road route, 100% asphalt, maximum gradient 15%; recommended bikes racing and vintage bikes
Short Family route 15 km d+ 200: family route suitable for everyone with any type of bike and set-up (including child seats and trailer)

Discounted rates for chronology and for groups, one (1) free entry will be automatically recognized by the ENDU platform for every 5 paying athletes (6th member free):
