Nuota in comune 2024

Nuota in Comune, the non-competitive crossing of the Lago Grande of Avigliana, reaches its 16th edition. Nuota in Comune 2024 takes place on Sunday 1 September with meeting at 9.30 at the Avigliana sailing centre. Lago Grande is in fact perfectly bathable and has once again obtained the 5 Sails from Legambiente this year. Registration for the event is available directly on the website www.nuotaincomune.it and the very convenient update service through the newsletter. This year, to participate it will be necessary to use a buoy, one for each person present, made available by the organization for those who do not have one: all the details are on the website.

Distances are referenced through the positioning of marker buoys so that it is easier to measure energy and overcome difficulties. The content leading up to the event can be found on the official Facebook profile “Nuota in Comune”, for open water swimming enthusiasts to support those approaching the crossing for the first time.
Avigliana and its Lago Grande have once again obtained the 5 Sails of Legambiente and Touring Club, the important recognition given to seaside and lakeside resorts that stand out for being able to effectively integrate tourist accommodation and environmental sustainability. The waters of Lago Grande are suitable for swimming and the creation of the “natural swimming pool” inside the lake near the sailing club is becoming a tradition: a space delimited by visible buoys and safe ladders to access directly from the promenade and swim in absolute safety. Even outside this area, the use of the buoy for swimming in open water is always mandatory: it is important to understand that this measure is fundamental both to be visible in a space of water where other people and vehicles live together, and as a support in case of temporary difficulty.

Where and when? Sunday 1 September, at 10am. There will be approximately 800 meters to cover between the starting point (Avigliana Sailing Centre) and the arrival point (Water Sports Club). As? Everyone at their own pace, it is a non-competitive swim and is intended to represent an opportunity for recreation and movement, not a race. Equipment needed? Use of the buoy for swimming in open water. Registration? Free with completion of the online form required. An event organized by the Sports Department of the Municipality of Avigliana in collaboration with Wellink.
