Magic corners of Avigliana and surroundings – watercolors and paintings by Ines Bertolino

“Fine draftsman and sensitive interpreter of landscape painting, Ines Daniela Bertolino knows how to masterfully exploit the potential of watercolor, a difficult technique that goes hand in hand with its versatility and immediacy. Water and color merge on the white paper to give life to a wonderful and continuous play of emotions. In the works of this artist, one of the primary colors is always present, the “blue”, in all its shades, the intense ones and the more diluted ones.

Impossible to remain indifferent to his poetics, where each element is reported with an extraordinary pictorial rendering, as if between the color of the sky and the green of nature that seem to interpenetrate in a magical coloristic idyll. Even the ancient road that leads to the famous Piazza del Conte Rosso is flooded by a blue stream that rushes down until it reaches our gaze.

In addition to the beautiful watercolors, there are old and ancient sheets on display that the artist has prepared as a support on which to use the acrylic color diluted to the maximum, as if it were a work on paper. This is the case of “The Lake”, kissed by the moonlight and a myriad of stars which seems to evoke a poem written by John Keats, the greatest poet of English Romanticism. In Keats’ poetics the light and the dark side exist in a relationship of close dependence, in the same way it happens almost by magic in the beautiful painting by Ines Daniela Bertolino.” (Donatella Avanzo, archaeologist and art historian)
