Sociality in Festival, the initiative organized by the Valsusa filmfest association returns to Avigliana and brings the actor Ettore Bassi to the stage of the Fassino Theater with “The fisherman mayor” on Sunday 27 October at 5.30 pm, with the patronage of the Municipality of Avigliana and the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo foundation. On stage is the story of a normal hero, Angelo Vassallo, mayor of Pollica, in the province of Salerno in the heart of Cilento, a man who sacrificed with his life the commitment to defend and improve his territory and its people. A convinced environmentalist, loved by his fellow citizens, in a sick and extraordinary region like Campania, Vassallo was known as the fisherman mayor for his past as a fisherman, for the love of the sea and his land which in his activity as administrator had made him always inspired.

Example of rigor in compliance with the law with severe and firm ways which however allow the beauty of one of the most characteristic places in Cilento to be kept intact. On the evening of September 5, 2010, while driving home, he was brutally killed at the hands of one or more murderers who are still unknown today. More than 500 people including mayors, local administrators and ordinary citizens marched on 10 February 2018 to say no to the dismissal of the investigation into the murder of the former mayor of Pollica.
