Day of the archaeological heritage of the Susa Valley – energies and life

The thirteenth day of the Archaeological Heritage of the Susa Valley will have as its theme “Energy and life”. For each of the archaeological sites participating in the initiative, a link will be created between the theme and the chronology of reference: Prehistory, the Roman Age, the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. Themed animations, demonstrations, theatrical performances, narrations will be organized at the sites.

Avigliana’s proposals:

Castle: guided tours departures at 10.00, 14.30 and 16.30 by the Aviglianese Archaeological Association (A3). Meeting in front of the town hall in Piazza Conte Rosso, duration of the visit 1 hour and 30 minutes, the visits are dramatized by the Borgo Vecchio association of Avigliana

Archaeological excavation workshop activities: 10 am – 12 pm and 2 pm – 4 pm at the simulated archaeological site at the foot of the Avigliana castle by the Arte Restauro e Archeologia association (ARA)

Priory and Church of San Bartolomeo: guided tours every hour by the A3 association, meeting point in the hamlet of San Bartolomeo al lago piccolo. Ex Dinamitificio Nobel: opening of the Museum with guided tours (booking recommended by contacting the tourist office): 9.30 – 10.15 – 11 – 14.15 – 15.45

5.00 pm: VisRabbia social space area near the museum, “twenty years of activity of the ecomuseum of the former Nobel dynamite factory, a symbolic place of industrial archeology between memory and new perspectives for cultural and social enhancement”. Speeches by Andrea Archinà, mayor of Avigliana and Silvio Amprino, president of the Amici di Avigliana association.

5.30 pm: NOBEL OBLIGE. Explosive stories in Avigliana at the end of the 19th century. Theatrical performance by Mauro Cavagliato, Roberta Fonsato, Rosanna Galleggiante. In case of bad weather the show will be held in the Church of the Sant’Agostino health center.
