On April 25th, the Municipality of Avigliana and the Anpi section of Avigliana, with the sponsorship of Unione Montana Valle Susa and the Colle del Lys Resistance Committee, are organizing a program of events to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Liberation, with official commemoration ceremonies and naming of the Anpi section of Avigliana, a theatrical show and walks on foot and by bicycle.

April 25 celebrations
The official ceremony on Tuesday 25 April 2023 begins with the usual homage to the War Memorial at the Avigliana cemetery at 9.15am and the commemoration of the historic date at the War Memorial at 11am, with greetings from Mayor Andrea Archinà and Anpi section of Avigliana. The official speaker of the ceremony this year will be the lawyer Roberto Lamacchia, president of the National Association of Democratic Jurists. The choir formed by the students of the primary school of the Istituto Comprensivo di Avigliana and by the students of the Roberto Goitre Music Education Study Center will be present, directed by Lorella Perugia and Serena Taretto.
Following this, the commemorative plaque of the Circolo della Resistenza Anpi Avigliana will be inaugurated to the partisan fighter Anna Maria “Mara” Polo, with refreshments offered by the Anpi in the courtyard of the Società Operaia in via Montenero and the musical accompaniment of the Santa Cecilia Philharmonic of Avigliana. The Circolo della Resistenza Anpi Avigliana will in fact be named after the partisan “Mara” already on Sunday 23 April with a ceremony in the Daniele Bertotto auditorium at 8.30pm: Nino Boeti, provincial Anpi president and Franca Mariano of the Colle Lys Resistance Committee will intervene. At 9.30pm on Sunday 23 the theatrical show “Living standing – Teresa Noce known as Estella of revolutionary profession” will be staged, directed by Alberto Barbi, organized by the Artemuda association.

The first event of the Liberation Day in Avigliana will be the excursion “On the paths of the partisans” on Sunday 23 April

The Valle Walk will take place on Monday 24 April at 8 pm, starting from Piazza Matteotti in Caprie and arriving in Piazza Martiri della Libertà in Condove. The last event is the “Path of memory” bicycle ride for adults and children with an itinerary through the streets dedicated to the partisans and the places where the tombstones of the martyrs who fell in the area have been placed, Saturday 29 April at 9.30am departing from piazza del popolo.
