A photographic journey through the memory of Avigliana
Over the course of more than 30 years, a group of citizens has collected historical photos and postcards of Avigliana. The idea was born thanks to the passion of Rosetta Chiaberge, a retired middle school teacher from Avigliana, and the work was recently completed with the scanning of approximately 800 images.
On Friday 10 October at 5 pm at the Primo Levi civic library, “Avigliana com’era” (Avigliana as it was), the digital archive of digitised photos and postcards, will be inaugurated.
The collection is a journey through the memory of Avigliana, with photos and testimonies that take us back in time from the late 19th century to the 1960s. Thanks go to all the fellow citizens who, over the years, have shared their memories, images and fragments of life, making it possible to preserve and pass on the history of the Avigliana community.
The entire collection is a work in progress and the curators of the exhibition are launching an appeal: “To this end, we invite anyone to contribute to the project by sharing new photographs, stories, curiosities or even anecdotes about the images already present”.
The Avigliana municipality’s newspaper, Avigliana Notizie, will also contribute to the project by making its photographic archive available. Over the last eight years, images of events and demonstrations, as well as public works and inaugurations, have been collected to accompany articles and press releases, providing a detailed record of how Avigliana is changing.
