A day on Christianity and spirituality at Bertotto
Caritas Valli di Lanzo Odv organizes a course on spiritual themes, held by Don Sergio Messina. The course will take place on Saturday 1 March 2025, from 9am to 6pm in the Daniele Bertotto auditorium. The event obtained the patronage of the Municipality of Avigliana and free use of the room. «During the day – explains Don Sergio Messina, head of Caritas of the Lanzo Valleys – we will talk about post-theism and how Christianity is relevant today. We will address the topic of growth through historical reasoning accompanied by ideas. We think that the God we talk about is no longer the one we have been taught for many centuries. Let us try to see God not as the Zeus of the ancient Greeks who is above. Can we see it differently? I have already addressed this topic with other people and some friends have asked me to explore it further in Avigliana too.” The cost of the course will be entirely donated to support projects for poor people.
Caritas Valli di Lanzo deals with the coordination and awareness of justice and charity in the parishes of Pastoral Unit 31 (from Balangero and Lanzo to the beginning of the Tesso, Viù, Ala and Grande valleys). Officially founded in 2001, since December 2019 the person in charge is Don Sergio Messina. In addition to listening and solidarity, the volunteers prepare and distribute bags of food aid recovered from the Caselle Charity Bank and in the carts activated for this purpose in supermarkets and shops in the Valleys.
