Appointment with the 40th edition of the historic Palio of the districts of Avigliana – at the court of the Conte Rosso

Three days of celebration and excitement in the medieval city with a green heart

-Saturday 10 June: Race with canoes: the seven Borghi  will compete in a regatta along the Great Lake of Avigliana, departure from the Centro Velico  at 4 p.m. followed by an aperitif and award ceremony of the race.

-Saturday 17 June: Race of the Tamburini dei Borghi and Tug of War Competition, opening of the Taverne dei Borghi at 6 p.m., with convivial menus of medieval mold producede by the villagers. The evening will continue at 9.45 p.m. with the entrance of the Conte Rosso  with all his Court, the Villages, the Flag-wavers and Musicians of the City and knights at the Campo del Palio to announce the great games organized in honor of Valentina Visconti.

In Piazza Conte Rosso, in the afternoon historical groups will  give life to a gigantic medieval camp with games and combat simulations. On the occasion of the fortieth edition of teh Palio il  will be set up the exhibition of all the Palios won by the city villages at the Church of Santa Croce. Possibility of guided tours of the historic medieval center decorated for the Palio

-Sunday 18 June: in Piazza Conte Rosso at 9.30 am delivery of the keys of the City of Avigliana to the Conte Rosso by the Mayor. Holy Mass at the Church of San Giovanni at 10:00 am with the blessing of the flags of the villages and the Palio.
at 3 p.m. departure of the Historical Parade from Piazza del Popolo, the Court and all the villages with over 500 participants towards the Campo del Palio parading through Corso Laghi.  Waiting for the Race of horses mounted bareback with a single round there will be the entrance into the field of the Borghi , the archery competition and the show of the Flag-wavers and Musicians Group of the City of Avigliana and the Historical Group “I Cavalieri del Conte Verde”.
Award ceremony of the winning Borgo  and possibility to participate in the Palio dinner at 8.30 p.m. on reservation tel 366 893 9852. 10.30 pm torchlight along the streets of the historic center to Piazza Conte Rosso.
