Opening roman villa Casellette and Primavallle Area
Guided tours of the Roman villa of Caselette and the nature area trail on the slopes of Mount Musinè.
The Primavalle Area, located on the slopes of Mount Musinè, is home to numerous species of animals and plants that are rare at a national and regional level, making it one of the Piedmont areas with the greatest biodiversity. A true “xerothermic oasis” that also includes the Upper and Lower Lakes of Caselette. The aim of creating this excellent nature trail is to enhance the great biodiversity that characterizes this area and to bring the public’s attention to how the naturalistic component has also influenced development on a historical level. This area also hosts a magnesite quarry, already exploited in the Roman period, which was very important for the country’s economy until the outbreak of the Second World War. The quarry is of particular geological importance thanks to the presence of Opal which, in this place, has particular characteristics from a gemological point of view.
The nature tours will be inserted in synergy with the guided tours to the Roman Villa of Caselette and the Roman Villa of Almese, creating a complete picture of how these places could have appeared in the Roman period.
The visits to the Roman Villa and the nature tours in the Primavalle Area will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm: first visit to the Roman Villa at 3:30 pm, second visit at 4:30 pm, third visit at 5:30 pm, to the Primavalle area first visit at 3:30 pm, second visit at 5:00 pm.
